PLEASE NOTE: THE FOLLOWING IS THE MARCH NEWSLETTER WHICH MISSED THE LAST BILL MAILING
Happy spring! As you’re admiring the budding trees and crocuses, you may be wondering if our greenbelts will ever turn green. Because of the very dry winter, we will make arrangements to start up the sprinklers as soon as it is safe to do so. At the next board meeting, we expect to sign a contract for grounds maintenance which means fertilizer will be applied etc. We would like to upgrade our landscaping a bit more this year; however, our first priority is to complete the sprinkler system retrofit. Dean’s proposal/contract will be reviewed at the next board meeting.
If you contact Dean’s Sprinkler Service, remember to ask for the Arapahoe Estates discount!
The Association’s annual meeting was held on Thursday, February 26. The participation was disappointing – some 30 households represented, not including proxies. It was a fruitful year; we’re proud of what was accomplished. Rewriting and passing the new governing documents dominated the year. Contracts were negotiated for painting and re-roofing the townhomes. A committee is revising our architectural guidelines and application form. The 6 townhomes at the Arapahoe Rd. entrance joined our Association and are now being integrated. Landscaping was improved and a major clean-up at the Colorado Blvd. entrance was undertaken by the Board members. Therese Revitte has put in countless hours designing and gathering support for a community garden for the former tennis court area which would beautify the park and turn currently wasted space into functional, productive space. And with regret we accepted the resignation of Board President Randal Martines; we all benefited from his strong leadership and enthusiasm over the past 2 years.
At the March Board meeting, officers for the coming year were elected as follows: President – Ed Stack; 1st Vice President – Jim Black; 2nd Vice President – Lance Chayet; Treasurer – Tom Radow; Secretary – Mindy Dunbar.
All of us on the Board so enjoyed our clean-up day that it was agreed that a community-wide clean-up will be scheduled for early this summer. The overgrowth along the stream must be cleared, there are trees to be trimmed of dead limbs and some trees must come down. Please keep the concept in the back of your mind; it’s a good way to get acquainted with your neighbors and get exercise to boot. Look for a date in an upcoming newsletter.
Thanks to all who took note that garbage containers must be stored out of sight. And again, we’d remind you to refrain from putting out garbage or recycling until late on Sunday. Be aware that several homeowners have mentioned our neighborhood coyotes have ripped into their garbage bags. Consider using a secure container instead.
